Hello - I’m Claire, writer, storyteller, and proud companion to the real Kiwi the Cockerpoo. He is the inspiration for Kiwi the Cockerpoo who is the central character in a series of gentle children’s stories inspired by everyday life.
Like many good stories, Kiwi’s began with small everyday moments - curious walks, quiet afternoons, and the gentle humour that comes from sharing life with a dog who seems to notice everything. Over time, those moments became stories created to make children smile, imagine, and feel the comfort of familiar adventures, all inspired by real life here in the UK.
The Story Behind the Stories
In my stories, Kiwi the Cockerpoo is a small black Cockerpoo with a big imagination and an even bigger heart. Living with his family - Mum, Dad, Gabriel, and Natalie - he approaches the world with curiosity, kindness, and a hopeful interest in whatever might happen next. So Kiwi the Cockerpoo is a children’s story character inspired by a real black Cockerpoo called Kiwi living with his family in the UK!
His adventures are inspired by real life: the ordinary moments that children recognise and the small discoveries that turn into memorable stories.
The aim is simple - gentle storytelling that encourages a love of reading while celebrating everyday family life.
Why I Created the Kiwi Stories
Stories have always been a way of making sense of the world, especially for children. Through Kiwi, I wanted to create something reassuring, warm, and quietly humorous - stories that feel like sitting down with a familiar friend.
Whether it’s a walk in changing weather, a new experience, or a small mystery, each story explores curiosity, kindness, and the comfort of belonging.
