Kiwi the Cockerpoo is thoroughly enjoying the local music festival, although he is considerably more interested in the smell of hot dogs and ice cream than the brass band marching through the village park.
 
Unfortunately, when a sudden blast of music startles Natalie and she accidentally drops his lead, Kiwi finds himself separated from his family in the middle of a very crowded festival. Feeling worried and unable to pick up a familiar scent, Kiwi heads towards a nearby ice cream van and settles under a bush to wait somewhere safe until his family finds him.
 
Instead, he discovers something far more suspicious. Hidden beside him is a small pile of purses and one particularly unpleasant smell Kiwi immediately decides should not be there. Naturally, he attempts to move the offending object somewhere more suitable.
 
As always, Kiwi is not trying to cause problems. He is simply making perfectly sensible decisions based on the information available at the time. Unfortunately, the humans watching nearby reach entirely the wrong conclusion and before long Kiwi finds himself accused of theft, attached to a policeman, and unexpectedly involved in solving a crime nobody realised was taking place.
